It has to do with the little known and long-covered-up history of the "pretribulation rapture" fantasy seriously promoted by LaHaye, Falwell and other Religious Right leaders. Since this 19th century fantasy raises huge funds for RR agendas, mainstream scholars would do well to carefully analyze the historical roots of the same "rapture" belief.
